App Store Trends API — Claude Code MCP server: app chart data
Hands your agent Android download history plus live App Store and Google Play charts. Useful when you want demand data on an app before you build or ship.
claude mcp add --transport http app-store-trends-api https://app-store.api.trendsapi.ai/mcpWhat App Store Trends API does
The server speaks HTTP and sits in front of the Trends API: Android download history, live App Store Top Free, App Store Top Paid and Google Play feeds. The key is free and comes from trendsapi.ai.
History keywords are Play Store bundle IDs such as com.openai.chatgpt. Passing chatgpt returns 404, since series are keyed by package id. Note also that app downloads covers Android only — iOS appears as live feeds and nothing more, so there is no iOS history to pull.
A Python client, trendsapi-app-store, supports Python 3.9+ and ships both sync and async classes. You can also call POST https://api.trendsapi.ai/api directly with an Authorization: Bearer $TRENDSAPI_KEY header. Spelling matters: source is lowercase, type must match the feed name exactly, and a mismatch is a 400. Every 200 response counts as one billed request.
What it helps with
- pull Android download history for a bundle ID
- compare 3-month and 12-month growth for an app
- grab the current App Store and Google Play top charts
- load a series into pandas and average it by month
- size up a niche before launching your own app
Example prompts for the agent
- Show the download history for
com.openai.chatgptand its latest value - What's the 3-month and 12-month growth for
com.openai.chatgpt? - List the live Google Play top 10
