AltoRank — Claude Code MCP server: SEO drafts and audits
Gives your agent keyword research, domain audits, article drafts and fact-checking. Useful when content gets written in a review queue rather than a chat.
claude mcp add --transport http altorank https://app.altorank.co/api/mcpWhat AltoRank does
AltoRank is an open-source, self-hosted SEO content tool, positioned as an alternative to Outrank and Jasper. Through the MCP server and the agent API, an agent can research a keyword, produce a draft, score it and check its facts: a figure that names a source page gets looked up on that page, and one without a source is flagged for a reviewer. Any draft can be copied out as Markdown with front matter, as HTML, or downloaded as a .md file.
Approval stays with people. No MCP tool and no agent API call can approve an article or publish a draft — they are absent, not switched off. The single publish-side call, altorank_retry_publish, re-runs a failed publish of something a person already approved and refuses everything else. Approval comes from the editor, or from an auto_approve rule a named account member turned on: it waits out a hold window (24h by default) and applies stricter checks than the Approve button.
You run it on your own Supabase and your own API keys under AGPL-3.0. CMS publishing is built but none of the thirteen adapters has been watched publishing to a live site, so /connect offers to request an integration instead of a Connect button. AI visibility tracking is built and not switched on. With no CMS connection, the editor hands you the draft to copy.
What it helps with
- research keywords and read the SERP for a topic
- run a domain audit with readiness checks and PageSpeed
- get a scored article draft before human review
- catch an unsourced figure before it goes live
- track rankings on a schedule and pull Search Console data
Example prompts for the agent
- Research keywords for "flower delivery" and show me the SERP
- Draft an article for this keyword and score it
- Fact-check the draft and flag any figure without a source

Questions about AltoRank
How do I install AltoRank in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http altorank https://app.altorank.co/api/mcp.
What does AltoRank do?
It researches keywords, writes and scores articles, fact-checks them, audits a domain, and syncs Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools data. Drafts land in a review queue.
Can the agent publish an article on its own?
No. Approval is written by a person in the editor or by an auto_approve rule a named account member enabled. The agent only prepares drafts, and altorank_retry_publish retries a publish of an already approved article.
