AIContextBuilder — Claude Code MCP server for C#/.NET

A local MCP server maps C#/.NET code for AI agents. Use it to trace symbols, tests, dependency injection paths, and change impact.

What AIContextBuilder does

AIContextBuilder reads C#/.NET solutions with Roslyn and builds a semantic symbol map. It can trace callers, interface implementations, overrides, dependency-injection construction paths, tests, and code reached by a change. The selected material can be exported as structured Markdown for an AI agent.

The server also assembles task-specific context under a token budget. Named symbols remain central while surrounding detail is reduced when space is tight. The package includes the MCP server, the aicb CLI, and a Windows desktop app for selecting and examining context. It accepts .sln, .slnx, .slnf, C#, and XAML/AXAML.

Optional AI tags in XML documentation add declared meaning such as role, layer, responsibility, stability, and side effects. A reduced package lists what was left out, but it cannot establish that the remaining context is sufficient for a correct solution.

What it helps with

  • trace callers of a C# symbol
  • locate interface implementations and overrides
  • inspect the impact of a code change
  • pack task context within a token budget
  • connect implementation code with tests and DI paths

Example prompts for the agent

  • Use AIContextBuilder to map the code affected by changing ColorMixerService.
  • Prepare an edit context for this class and include its covering tests and related implementations.
  • Trace the selected symbol’s callers and dependencies, then keep the result within a token budget.

Questions about AIContextBuilder

How do I install AIContextBuilder in Claude Code?

Connect AIContextBuilder to Claude Code as a local MCP server.

What does AIContextBuilder do?

It uses Roslyn to map a C#/.NET solution, trace symbol relationships, and assemble focused context for an AI agent.

What happens when the context exceeds the token budget?

The named symbols stay in the package while surrounding detail is trimmed. The result identifies omitted types, tests, or related components.
