Agentic Task System (ATS) — Claude Code MCP server for your task app
An MCP server that exposes tasks from TickTick, Notion, Obsidian or a markdown folder to any MCP client. Your agent can read, create and link items.
claude mcp add agentic-task-system -e ATS_ADAPTER=<ATS_ADAPTER> -- npx -y @reneza/ats-mcpWhat Agentic Task System (ATS) does
It sits on top of a storage adapter. You need @reneza/ats-mcp plus one adapter package, @reneza/ats-adapter-ticktick if you skip that choice. Adapter lookup runs in order: the ATS_ADAPTER variable, then a single line in ~/.config/ats/adapter, then the ticktick default. Skip the adapter install and the server has nothing to read.
Roughly two dozen tools come with it. find runs keyword retrieval and, on embedder-backed adapters, adds dense search with RRF fusion; explain: true breaks down each hit. Writes go through create_task and update_task, while url_for returns a link that opens the item in its own app. Another group handles the task tree, lifecycle windows, typed links between items, and scoped access checks that leave an audit trail. A final set snapshots and polls state events.
The security tools are a decision point for a cooperating client. They do not contain tools from other MCP servers. Event tools record state changes only and never execute an agent. The local spool keeps references and hashes rather than task bodies.
What it helps with
- pull a task from your work app into an agent session
- file a new task in TickTick or Obsidian without leaving the chat
- link two tasks with a typed relation and walk the graph
- grant scoped access to one task and keep a decision log
- follow state changes between agent runs
Example prompts for the agent
- Find everything about the release prep in my tasks and break the results down by source
- Create a task for reviewing item 4 in the
backendproject - Show incoming and outgoing links for task

Questions about Agentic Task System (ATS)
How do I install Agentic Task System in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add agentic-task-system -e ATS_ADAPTER=<ATS_ADAPTER> -- npx -y @reneza/ats-mcp. Replace <ATS_ADAPTER> with your adapter package, for instance @reneza/ats-adapter-ticktick.
What does Agentic Task System do?
It surfaces tasks from your own app over MCP: search, read, create, update. On top of that you get a task hierarchy, typed links, lifecycle state and access rules.
Which stores can it use?
Any store with an ATS adapter. An adapter implements six storage methods plus authentication lifecycle hooks. TickTick ships as an adapter; others are selected through ATS_ADAPTER.
