What agent-knowledge does

agent-knowledge keeps a Markdown knowledge base that can be synced with Git. An agent can retrieve project context, decisions, workflows, errors, and configuration from later sessions. It also indexes transcripts from Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI, Aider, Continue.dev, Cline, and OpenCode.

Search combines semantic similarity with TF-IDF ranking. The knowledge graph can connect entries to code structure and validity periods. knowledge(action: "wakeup") builds a sectioned context bundle within a token budget, with 800 as the default. The server can flag stale entries and promote session findings into a dated .dreams/YYYY-MM-DD.md diary.

Node >= 20 is required to run it. The MCP connection uses npx; embedding options include local Hugging Face, OpenAI, Claude/Voyage, and Gemini providers.

What it helps with

  • carry project decisions into later sessions
  • search earlier agent transcripts
  • build a focused startup context
  • spot entries affected by code changes
  • connect knowledge entries to code relationships

Example prompts for the agent

  • Save the API structure decision to the project knowledge base.
  • Use knowledge(action: "wakeup") to prepare context for this session.
  • Search the transcripts for the earlier database connection error.
