BetMakers sees 205% EBITDA rise as Tabcorp takeover looms

Australian horse racing technology provider BetMakers reported revenue of AU$92.6m (£49m) for FY26, up 8.8% year-on-year. Adjusted EBITDA rose 205%, from $4.6m to $14.1m. Over three years the metric improved by $46m. Net loss after tax narrowed from $25.3m to $5.2m on cost control and technology growth. Adjusted gross margin reached 66.9% against 64.1% a year earlier; the company targets 70% long-term.

The global totalisator segment brought in $49.3m, down 2.3% from $50.6m. Bookmaker services grew 25.5%, from $34.5m to $43.3m, driven by a wider digital client base in Australia and new contracts in Europe. BetMakers works with UK Tote Group, Racecourse Media Group, William Hill and Norway's Rikstoto. Stake recently integrated the platform for fixed odds and tote; Sweden's ATG added Danish and Swedish racing. Australian clients include Sportsbet, Ladbrokes and TABtouch. In the US, BetMakers completed the acquisition of Las Vegas Dissemination Company.

The Tabcorp takeover is valued at $267m and expected to close by the end of the next financial year. CEO Jake Henson said BetMakers aims to become the central platform for global racing bets through low cost per wager, risk management and full market coverage: fixed odds, totalisator and data in one partnership. Chairman Matt Davey noted the company continues the operational turnaround launched several years ago despite challenges in the racing industry.
