Macau's economy slowed sharply in the second quarter of 2026: real GDP rose just 0.3% year-on-year to 102.33 billion patacas ($12.7 billion). First-half growth came in at 3.7%, reaching 209.89 billion patacas ($26.1 billion), according to the Statistics and Census Service.
Service exports drove the expansion, up 7.2% year-on-year for the half. Tourist arrivals rose 9.0%. Private consumption increased 2.8%. Government spending fell 0.2%, and gross fixed capital formation dropped 9.4%.
January-to-June output reached 89.1% of the same period in 2019. Macau continues to recover from the pandemic trough, but the second-quarter figures show the pace is slowing.
