Macau GGR falls 8.4% YoY in July but rebounds from June

Macau casino gross gaming revenue fell 8.4% year on year in July to $2.51 billion, though it climbed 9.4% from June. The print broadly matched analyst expectations.

June GGR came in at MOP18.52 billion ($2.29 billion). Daily average GGR for July reached MOP654 million ($81 million), 5.9% above the June figure, and beat the MOP19.5 billion ($2.41 billion) CLSA had projected.

Forecasts going in were negative. CLSA called a 12% year-on-year decline, Citigroup a 5% drop to MOP21 billion ($2.60 billion), Seaport Research Partners 7% to 9%. Analysts tied the soft demand in the first half of July to the football World Cup, which ended on 19 July. A rebound was expected after the tournament, helped by Macau's summer entertainment programme.

For the first seven months of 2026 Macau GGR reached MOP147.16 billion ($18.22 billion), 4.4% above the MOP140.90 billion ($17.45 billion) booked a year earlier. It stays 15.4% below the MOP173.96 billion ($21.53 billion) of the same period in 2019. July alone recovered to 82.9% of its 2019 level.
