Context
Kenya is the second most important African betting market after Nigeria. BCLB (Betting Control and Licensing Board) regulates all forms of betting. In 2019 the government raised the betting tax to 20%, which led to the exit of several operators (including SportPesa for a time), but the market recovered.
Betika, SportPesa, 22Bet and Betwinner are the main players. M-Pesa (mobile money) is the key payment instrument.
