voicestudio — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Connects an agent to VoiceStudio for speech generation, audio transcription, and dubbing workflows through its REST API or MCP server.
npx skills add debpalash/VoiceStudio --skill voicestudio -a claude-codeWhat voicestudio does
This skill works with a running VoiceStudio backend. It checks GET /health, reads the active API contract from GET /openapi.json, and discovers available voices and engines through GET /v1/audio/voices. It can then generate speech from JSON requests or transcribe an uploaded audio file with the requested output format.
The OpenAPI schema exposes the installed operations for voice profiles, reference uploads, voice design, dubbing, and asynchronous jobs. The VoiceStudio MCP server is mounted at /mcp; clients should discover its tools at runtime. Dubbing workflows keep speaker assignments, segment timing, background audio intent, and the source as a separate artifact.
Protected deployments need configured credentials, while speech and transcription may depend on installed models. Check model readiness before processing long recordings because the skill does not download models or switch to a hosted provider without permission.
What it helps with
- generate speech with a saved voice
- transcribe an audio file with timestamps
- discover available VoiceStudio voices and engines
- run dubbing while preserving segment timing and background audio
- connect an agent to the VoiceStudio MCP server
Example prompts for the agent
- Generate `speech.wav` from this text with a saved VoiceStudio voice, then verify the output format.
- Check transcription-model readiness, transcribe `clip.wav` with timestamps, and save subtitles as `srt`.
- Connect to VoiceStudio MCP, discover its available tools, and run a dubbing job while keeping the source file separate.
