unslop — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
This skill removes common AI writing patterns, filler, and vague phrasing while keeping the meaning and intended tone. Use it when polishing text.
npx skills add cursor/plugins --skill unslop -a claude-codeWhat unslop does
unslop scans text against a fixed set of editing rules and rewrites the passages it flags. The rules cover superficial -ing phrases, vague attributions, repeated AI vocabulary, forced groups of three, synonym cycling, false ranges, excess em dashes, chatbot phrases, filler, hedging, abstract metaphors, passive voice, and dense sentences. It also pushes edits toward plain words and concrete statements.
The skill is available for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, and OpenCode. Its configuration sets disable-model-invocation: true, so the agent should run it only after a direct request. That matters when a project needs text changes to wait for an explicit user command.
What it helps with
- remove stock AI phrasing from a draft
- replace vague attributions with named sources
- split dense sentences into clearer prose
- keep the original meaning while changing tone
- check documentation for filler and abstract metaphors
Example prompts for the agent
- Run `unslop` on this draft and keep its meaning while making the tone plain.
- Review `README.md` for AI writing patterns and rewrite only the flagged passages.
- Edit the text below with `unslop`; do not add facts or change the intended tone.
