tech-stack-evaluator — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Evaluates frameworks, libraries, and cloud providers with weighted scoring. Calculates five-year TCO and assesses migration risks before project kickoff.
/plugin marketplace add alirezarezvani/claude-skills
/plugin install engineering-skills@claude-code-skillsWhat tech-stack-evaluator does
The skill evaluates engineering stacks using structured criteria. It produces comparison matrices, tracks GitHub and npm ecosystem health, and inspects SOC 2 or GDPR compliance readiness. It also benchmarks AWS, Azure, and GCP for targeted workloads. Output formats span from quick comparisons around 200-300 tokens to full 1200-1500 token migration reports.
Five Python scripts power the evaluation: stack_comparator.py, tco_calculator.py, ecosystem_analyzer.py, security_assessor.py, and migration_analyzer.py. They calculate multi-year total cost of ownership and project codebase migration effort. You can submit inputs as plain text, YAML, or JSON. Running the scripts locally requires Python.
Use this skill when choosing core foundations or planning major code migrations. If leadership already locked the technical choice or the decision is trivial, skip it.
What it helps with
- compare frontend or backend frameworks with weighted scores
- calculate 5-year total cost of ownership including hidden costs
- estimate migration effort, risks, and timelines
- compare AWS, Azure, and GCP for specific workloads
Example prompts for the agent
- Compare React vs Vue for a SaaS dashboard. Priorities: developer productivity (40%), ecosystem (30%), performance (30%).
- Calculate 5-year TCO for Next.js on Vercel. Team: 8 developers. Hosting: $2500/month. Growth: 40%/year.
- Evaluate migrating from Angular.js to React. Codebase: 50,000 lines, 200 components. Team: 6 developers.
