remotion-create — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
This skill creates a new Remotion project and prepares a video composition. Use it when an agent needs to build video with React markup.
npx skills add remotion-dev/skills --skill remotion-create -a claude-codeWhat remotion-create does
remotion-create scaffolds a Remotion project when one does not exist yet and prepares the base for a new composition. In an empty folder it runs npx create-video@latest --yes --blank --no-tailwind ., then installs dependencies with npm i. When the folder already contains meaningful files, it creates the project in a subfolder.
The skill opens Remotion Studio in the browser before video edits begin and keeps the preview running while the work continues. It uses React markup for the composition, with separate Remotion guidance for multi-scene videos and timelines containing video or audio clips. Node.js and Git are required. TailwindCSS follows a separate setup path when requested.
Install it when your agent should create Remotion projects and compositions through this workflow. It adds little value for a finished project that does not need composition changes.
What it helps with
- scaffold a new Remotion project
- prepare a React composition for video
- open a live preview in Remotion Studio
- arrange video and audio clips on a timeline
- build a video from multiple scenes
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a new Remotion project in this folder and open the Studio preview.
- Add a composition for the video and keep Remotion Studio running.
- Arrange these clips on a timeline so each one can be edited independently.
