remotion-captions — Claude skill for Remotion captions
A skill for captions in Remotion: transcribe video and audio, render and animate subtitles, import them from .srt.
npx skills add remotion-dev/skills --skill remotion-captions -a claude-codeWhat remotion-captions does
The skill walks your agent through captions in Remotion. Every caption is handled as JSON and typed with Caption from @remotion/captions: text, start and end in milliseconds, a timestamp, a confidence value and an optional page-break flag.
Three instruction files sit inside the skill — one for transcribing video and audio into captions, one for displaying them in a video, one for importing from .srt. The agent loads the file it needs for the task at hand, so nothing has to be memorised upfront. When the work is done, the skill points to Remotion Best Practices and suggests opening Remotion Studio.
Worth installing if you already build video with Remotion and would rather not have the agent reinvent the caption format. If your project has no subtitles, skip it.
What it helps with
- generate captions from a video or audio file
- render subtitles over a Remotion video
- pull existing subtitles in from a .srt file
- shape captions into JSON matching the Caption type
- animate captions against their timestamps
Example prompts for the agent
- transcribe this video and show the captions in my composition
- import subtitles from subtitles.srt and display them in the video
- animate the captions using the timestamps in captions.json
