memory-setup — Claude Code skill: set up persistent memory
Configures Moltbot/Clawdbot memory search across files and past sessions. Use it when an agent loses context between conversations.
npx skills add sundial-org/awesome-openclaw-skills --skill memory-setup -a claude-codeWhat memory-setup does
This skill guides persistent memory-search setup for Moltbot/Clawdbot. It covers the memorySearch section in ~/.clawdbot/clawdbot.json or moltbot.json, including provider, indexed sources, relevance threshold and result limit. It also lays out a workspace structure with MEMORY.md, daily logs, and folders for project or group context.
The suggested AGENTS.md instructions tell an agent to call memory_search before answering questions about earlier work, then use memory_get for specific lines. Daily files at memory/logs/YYYY-MM-DD.md can record events, decisions and follow-ups.
The voyage provider needs VOYAGE_API_KEY, while openai needs OPENAI_API_KEY; local runs without an API key. Check that choice first. For a failed search, the skill points to MEMORY.md and a gateway restart with clawdbot gateway restart.
What it helps with
- enable persistent memory search for an agent
- create a
MEMORY.mdmemory structure - index session history alongside memory files
- set recall instructions in
AGENTS.md - resolve embedding provider key errors
Example prompts for the agent
- Set up Moltbot/Clawdbot persistent memory with
memorySearchin the config. - Create
MEMORY.mdand a daily log atmemory/logs/YYYY-MM-DD.md. - Add
memory_searchandmemory_getrecall steps toAGENTS.md.
