The skill reads headlines from RSS feeds (WSJ, Barron's, CNBC, Yahoo, Finnhub), adds index and portfolio quotes, then runs everything through Gemini. What comes out is a morning or evening briefing: markets, your holdings, top stories, and a short analysis. Output language switches between English and German, and coverage spans US, European, and Japanese markets.
Run the setup wizard first. It asks which feeds to enable, which regions to track, where to deliver, and when. Your watchlist lives in a CSV at ~/clawd/skills/finance-news/config/portfolio.csv, and you can import an existing list from a file. Automated briefings go through cron — cron/morning.sh and cron/evening.sh run on weekdays.
You need Python 3.10+, the feedparser library, an authenticated Gemini CLI, and the openbb-quote wrapper. WhatsApp delivery runs through the OpenClaw message tool, so the group has to be set in the cron scripts. WSJ and Barron's feeds may sit behind a subscription — if a briefing arrives half empty, that is the first thing to check.
