gtex-eqtl-skill — Codex skill: what it does, how to install
This skill fetches GTEx single-tissue eQTL associations for one variant and turns rsID, GRCh37, or GRCh38 input into a GRCh38 query. It returns JSON.
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill gtex-eqtl-skill -a codexWhat gtex-eqtl-skill does
gtex-eqtl-skill accepts one variant as an rsID, GRCh37 coordinate, or GRCh38 coordinate. It normalizes the value to chrom-pos-ref-alt, builds the GTEx identifier chr{chrom}_{pos}_{ref}_{alt}_b38, and queries the GTEx v2 API for single-tissue eQTL associations. The JSON response includes status, input details, normalized variant data, row counts, eQTL records, paging information, and warnings.
The skill runs scripts/gtex_eqtl.py, which reads JSON from stdin and writes JSON to stdout. Input can be a plain string or an object with optional max_results to cap the returned rows. Network calls use Python requests.
One concrete constraint matters: pass exactly one of rsid, grch37, grch38, or variant, because the skill expects a single variant source.
What it helps with
- fetch GTEx eQTL associations for a variant
- convert GRCh37 coordinates into a GRCh38 query
- resolve an rsID through the GTEx v2 API
- cap the number of returned eQTL rows
- return the result as JSON without markdown
Example prompts for the agent
- Fetch GTEx eQTL associations for `rs7903146` and return JSON.
- Process `10-112998590-C-T` as GRCh38 and return at most 5 rows.
- Send `{"grch37":"10-114758349-C-T"}` to `scripts/gtex_eqtl.py` and show the JSON response.
