equity-model-update — Claude skill: refresh an equity Excel model
Updates a copy of a public-company Excel model from source-to-model maps and returns the XLSX with a change log.
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill equity-model-update -a codexWhat equity-model-update does
The skill matches metrics from filings, guidance, consensus and transcripts to specific sheet rows, then proposes new values. Your original file stays untouched: edits go into a copied workbook, with CSV, a run log and a manifest alongside it.
Every metric gets a mapping treatment before any delta is calculated. Only safe_update rows may carry proposed model values; the rest are tagged reference_only, assumption_required, missing_model_architecture or rebuild_required. When the workbook lacks the operating schedules an estimate refresh needs, the skill says refreshed estimates and valuation are unavailable and keeps the cached valuation only as a stale reference.
Protected cells, formula targets and under-mapped sheets block editing. In that case you get a control pack with Update_Cover, Source_Map, Rebuild_Requirements, Change_Log, Tie_Out and Stale_Data tabs instead. One thing to watch: after edits to input cells that feed formulas, the workbook still needs recalculation in Excel or Sheets. The skill flags that, but does not run the recalc itself.
What it helps with
- refresh forecast rows after an earnings release
- map transcript metrics to specific model lines
- track which cells changed and which stayed blocked
- flag stale or missing data before updating the model
- build a control pack when the workbook cannot be edited safely
Example prompts for the agent
- update my model from the latest filing, leave the original alone
- map the transcript metrics to model lines and show me the change log
- check which rows are safe to update and where a rebuild is required
