kimi-xlsx — Claude Code skill: Excel files, formulas, pivot tables
A skill for spreadsheet work: builds .xlsx with openpyxl and pandas, checks formulas for errors, and creates pivot tables with charts.
npx skills add thvroyal/kimi-skills --skill kimi-xlsx -a claude-codeWhat kimi-xlsx does
The skill turns the agent into a spreadsheet analyst. It creates XLSX, XLSM and CSV files, writes formulas, styles cells and adds charts. Everything runs on Python 3: pandas handles the data, openpyxl writes the file and applies formatting. Code runs in ipython, validation commands run in shell.
A CLI tool called KimiXlsx ships inside with six commands. recheck finds formula errors such as #VALUE! and #DIV/0!, zero-value results, and formulas that work in LibreOffice but break in MS Excel. reference-check flags ranges that overshoot the data and formulas that break the column pattern, inspect dumps the file structure as JSON, and pivot builds a pivot table with a chart. Read pivot-table.md before calling pivot — the command will not work without it.
When data comes from outside, the skill insists on citations: two columns Source Name and Source URL, or a dedicated Sources sheet. URLs go in as plain text, not the HYPERLINK function. Expect only the file you asked for. The skill skips readme docs and other extras to keep context small.
What it helps with
- build an .xlsx from data and a template
- catch formula errors and zero-value cells
- create a pivot table with a chart
- spot references that overshoot the data range
- format a financial sheet with currency styling
Example prompts for the agent
- build a sales report in output.xlsx with formulas and a chart
- check output.xlsx for formula errors
- create a pivot table from the Sales sheet summing Revenue
