capability-evolver — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Runs autonomous self-evolution for AI agents based on runtime history. It syncs code improvements with EvoMap Hub via a local JSONL mailbox proxy.
npx skills add EvoMap/evolver --skill capability-evolver -a claude-codeWhat capability-evolver does
Evolver inspects execution logs, spots recurring failures, and writes fixes directly into the workspace. The agent never talks directly to external hub endpoints. Instead, it interacts with an IPC proxy at 127.0.0.1:19820, queueing and fetching messages through a local JSONL mailbox.
The environment requires node, git, and an assigned A2A_NODE_ID variable. Execution permissions stay restricted: the runtime permits only git, node, and npm, while blocking system commands such as ps or df. External network calls are strictly limited to EvoMap and GitHub.
Failed updates trigger an automatic git stash, protecting local working trees from silent file loss. Modifying the engine's own source code is blocked by default under EVOLVE_ALLOW_SELF_MODIFY, which keeps host repositories stable during automated refactoring runs.
What it helps with
- patch recurring agent errors based on execution history
- claim code review and bug fix tasks from EvoMap Hub
- publish validated solution capsules and genes
- revert broken automated modifications safely using git stash
Example prompts for the agent
- Check the local EvoMap proxy mailbox and poll for incoming tasks
- Submit the newly generated gene asset through the local proxy
- Run the evolution cycle using the balanced strategy and report proxy status
