bmad-walkthrough — Claude Code skill: review and install
This skill guides a human review of a commit, PR, file, or directory. Use it when a project review should follow the workflow printed by the skill.
npx skills add bmad-code-org/BMAD-METHOD --skill bmad-walkthrough -a claude-codeWhat bmad-walkthrough does
bmad-walkthrough guides a human review of a commit, PR, file, or directory. When invoked, it runs render_skill.py once through uv, passing the project root and the skill directory. The script prints the workflow to follow.
If the script cannot be found, the skill offers to set up bmad and then retry the command. Other failures, including a missing uv executable, stop the process and report the command output. Check that uv and _bmad/scripts/render_skill.py are available before invoking it.
What it helps with
- review a commit by following a defined workflow
- walk through a pull request
- inspect a single file
- review a project directory

Run the following command exactly once without changing the current working directory. Replace `{project-root}` with the absolute path to the project root and `{skill-root}` with the absolute path to this skill's directory:
```bash
uv run --no-cache "{project-root}/_bmad/scripts/render_skill.py" --project-root "{project-root}" --skill "{skill-root}"
```
- The command prints the skill's workflow: follow it. `HALT: <reason>`: report the reason and stop.
- If the script is not found, BMad is not set up here. Offer to run the `bmad` skill's setup, installing `bmad` first if you do not have it (`npx skills add bmad-code-org/BMAD-METHOD --skill bmad`), then run the command above once more.
- On any other failure (including `uv` being unavailable), report the command output and HALT. Do not run any workflow source directly.
