bmad-qa-generate-e2e-tests — Claude Code skill: tests and setup
This skill adds end-to-end and API tests for working features through the project's existing test harness. Use it for automated QA coverage.
npx skills add bmad-code-org/BMAD-METHOD --skill bmad-qa-generate-e2e-tests -a claude-codeWhat bmad-qa-generate-e2e-tests does
The skill creates end-to-end and API tests for features that already work. It follows the project's existing test harness, so generated scenarios fit the current testing structure. Use it when a finished feature needs automated coverage or when a user asks for e2e or API tests.
Its workflow is loaded through render_skill.py from _bmad/scripts. The project needs _bmad/, and the environment needs uv. This skill is not for unit tests on work in progress; those are written by the build process. Install it when you need QA tests for an existing feature. Skip it for unfinished logic.
What it helps with
- add e2e tests for a working feature
- cover an API with automated scenarios
- follow the project's test harness for new QA coverage
- create automated QA tests for a selected feature
Example prompts for the agent
- Create end-to-end tests for the login flow using the existing test harness.
- Add API tests for the working `orders` feature.
- Create qa automated tests for checkout.

Run the following command exactly once without changing the current working directory.
Replace `{project-root}` with the nearest folder containing `_bmad/`, from the working directory upward.
Replace `{skill-root}` with the absolute path to this skill's directory.
```bash
uv run --no-cache "{project-root}/_bmad/scripts/render_skill.py" --project-root "{project-root}" --skill "{skill-root}"
```
- The command prints the skill's workflow: follow it. `HALT: <reason>`: report the reason and stop.
- If the script does not exist, BMad is not set up in this project yet. Offer to set it up using `bmad` skill, then run the command again. If you do not have the `bmad` skill, offer to install it first.
- On any other output or failure, including `uv` being unavailable, report the command output and stop. Do not run any workflow source directly.
