What academic-research-suite does

The suite acts as a workflow router. Instead of loading every prompt at once, it parses the initial intent and reads a single WORKFLOW.md entry under ars/. It routes to deep research, systematic reviews, paper drafting, citation audits, or manuscript reviews.

Under the hood, the skill relies on Read, Glob, Grep, WebSearch, and Python shell execution through uv, python, or python3. A dedicated sub-workflow, sr-screener, handles record screening against eligibility criteria. If provided files span two or more pipeline stages without a clear command, the agent halts and prompts for clarification to prevent misrouting.

Users can bypass cross-phase clarification by adding [direct-mode] as the first token. That behavior is a clear reason to format initial prompts carefully, as mixed inputs without this flag force the router into clarification mode.
