XAF Logic Explainer — Claude Code MCP Server: Setup & Features
Extracts DevExpress XAF project structure for your coding agent from source code. It reads entities, controllers, business rules, and Model Editor XML without compiling.
Open on GitHubWhat XAF Logic Explainer does
The server parses DevExpress XAF modules to provide coding agents with the exact structure of your codebase. It inspects business objects alongside mapping attributes like [Association] and [Aggregated]. It determines whether the application relies on XPO or EF Core directly from project files. Target frameworks are detected properly, down to legacy .NET Framework 4.8 setups.
Everything is read at the syntax level using Roslyn. Your solution never has to compile. The tool avoids linking against DevExpress runtime assemblies, preventing environment setup headaches.
It also reads Model Editor files (.xafml) where crucial layout and column rules live outside C#. The server extracts controller actions, validation rules, initial seed routines in ModuleUpdater, and report configurations.
What it helps with
- extract entity relationships and XAF attributes without building the solution
- feed hidden view settings from
.xafmlfiles to the assistant - inspect controller action triggers and execution criteria
- supply validation rules and database migration logic to the agent
Example prompts for the agent
- Explain which validation rules apply to the Invoice entity
- Inspect
.xafmlfiles and locate hidden columns in the order view - Check the execution criteria for actions inside ApproveController
