vueuse-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: VueUse docs on tap
Hands your coding agent the VueUse docs, so it looks up composables and their APIs on its own while you work.
claude mcp add vueuse-mcp -- npx -y vueuse-mcpWhat vueuse-mcp does
The server exposes four tools. search_composables takes a name, keyword or concept and returns ranked matches with descriptions. get_composable_docs returns the full page for one composable: signature, types, options, examples and related functions. suggest_composable accepts a plain-language description of what you want to build and ranks candidates, noting their trade-offs. list_categories lists categories with composable counts and can filter by package.
You never call these yourself. Ask how to track the mouse position in Vue and the agent reaches for search_composables or suggest_composable, then pulls the useMouse docs and writes code against the real API and types. The composable data comes from scraping the VueUse GitHub repo.
Refreshing that data is on you: npm run scrape && npm run build. Scraping without a GITHUB_TOKEN environment variable runs into GitHub rate limits, so set the token before you update. Building locally means cloning the repo, then npm install.
What it helps with
- find the right VueUse composable for a task
- read a composable's signature and options without leaving the editor
- pick between composables that behave similarly
- write Vue code against correct types and APIs
- refresh the local VueUse documentation data
Example prompts for the agent
- Help me track the mouse position in a Vue component
- Which VueUse composable should I use to debounce a search input?
- Show me the
useMousedocs: signature, options and examples

Questions about vueuse-mcp
How do I install vueuse-mcp in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add vueuse-mcp -- npx -y vueuse-mcp.
What does vueuse-mcp do?
It is an MCP server carrying the VueUse documentation. Your agent searches composables, reads their docs and suggests options for what you are building.
Do I need a GITHUB_TOKEN?
Only when you refresh the data: without it, GitHub throttles requests during scraping. Running the server day to day does not need one.
