Vectorize — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects your coding assistant to a remote vector tracing API. Converts raster images like PNG and JPG into SVG, PDF, EPS, or DXF files.
claude mcp add --transport http vectorize https://vectorize.dudko.dev/mcpWhat Vectorize does
Vectorize acts as an HTTP gateway to the Vectorize tracing API. It does not ingest image payloads directly. The image never passes through the language model or the remote MCP host. Instead, the server verifies conversion settings and returns an executable HTTP call with a 15-minute credential. Your assistant triggers that call wherever the source file resides.
The server offers three utilities to inspect API usage, check options for photo or poster presets, and prepare tracing requests. Connections rely on streamable HTTP alongside OAuth 2.1 via auth.dudko.dev. You do not have to manage static tokens.
Accessing the MCP tools is free, but requests consume credits from your active plan. When your quota runs out, the API returns status 402.
What it helps with
- convert PNG or JPG graphics into vector SVG files
- trace a raster sketch into a DXF drawing
- build a pre-authenticated curl command for image vectorization
- check available tracing presets and limits before converting
Example prompts for the agent
- Convert logo.png to an SVG vector file using the poster preset
- Check available conversion options using trace_options
- Generate a request to turn sketch.jpg into a DXF drawing

Questions about Vectorize
How to install Vectorize in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http vectorize https://vectorize.dudko.dev/mcp. Then execute /mcp inside Claude Code and follow the browser sign-in prompt.
What does the Vectorize MCP server do?
It provides tools to configure vector tracing and assemble pre-authenticated HTTP calls. Your assistant can then turn raster graphics into SVG, PDF, EPS, or DXF files.
Does Vectorize upload your images to the MCP server?
No, pictures never travel across the MCP server or the AI model. The server returns a ready-to-run curl command with a temporary token so the assistant executes the API call directly.
