toolpin — Claude Code MCP server: check other servers
toolpin reports whether another MCP server answered, what tools it advertised, and whether those definitions changed. Use it to inspect agent dependencies or investigate a server change.
claude mcp add --transport http toolpin https://toolpin.dev/mcpWhat toolpin does
Search the public registry with search_servers. For a specific server, get_server reports observed endpoint reachability, check times, repository activity, and recorded changes. get_server_tools returns the definitions the server advertised with hashes of specification-defined fields; get_server_changes lists definition changes and endpoints going down or coming back. Toolpin compares those fields daily.
watch_server monitors a server through your Toolpin account and emails you when it changes or stops responding. Reading requires no key; watch_server and a higher limit require a key in the Authorization: Bearer header. Tool descriptions are the server author’s claims, not claims verified by Toolpin. It provides no safety rating, so its results cannot establish that a tool is safe or does what its description says.
The service uses stateless Streamable HTTP. Add it to Claude Code with claude mcp add --transport http toolpin https://toolpin.dev/mcp; Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Gemini CLI also have install configurations.
What it helps with
- find MCP servers in the public registry
- check whether a remote server endpoint responded
- inspect advertised tool definitions and their hashes
- track changes to a server’s tools or availability
- receive email when a monitored server changes or stops responding
Example prompts for the agent
- Find MCP servers for working with Git in the public registry.
- Check the advertised tools and recorded changes for MCP server

What does toolpin do?
It reports observations about other MCP servers, including endpoint reachability, advertised tools, and recorded changes. You can also monitor a server and receive email alerts.
Does toolpin verify whether an MCP server is safe?
No. It reproduces descriptions and annotations published by the server; it does not verify those claims or provide a safety rating.
