What Tolgee does

Tolgee’s MCP server gives an AI coding assistant access to project translations. It can search keys, create or update translations, manage languages, and trigger machine translation. This keeps localization tasks in the editor.

The server connects over HTTP. In Claude Code, add it as tolgee with claude mcp add --transport http tolgee https://app.tolgee.io/mcp/developer. It works with translations in Tolgee, so the localization platform remains part of the workflow.

What it helps with

  • find a translation key in a project
  • create or update a translated string
  • manage project languages
  • trigger machine translation

Example prompts for the agent

  • Find the Tolgee keys used on the sign-in screen.
  • Create a translation for this key in the selected language.
  • Run machine translation for the new strings.
