mcp-server · thoughtspot — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects your ThoughtSpot instance to AI coding agents via HTTP MCP. It handles OAuth authorization and queries live analytics data in chat.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp-server https://agent.thoughtspot.app/mcpWhat mcp-server does
The server exposes ThoughtSpot data to your assistant through the https://agent.thoughtspot.app/mcp endpoint. For clients lacking dynamic client registration, you create credentials manually at agent.thoughtspot.app/clients. Oauth Client Id and Oauth Client Secret appear only during generation; losing them means creating a new client from scratch.
You can attach a fixed ThoughtSpot URL directly to the registered client so users skip entering it during sign-in. For multi-domain deployments, the INSTANCE_ALLOWLIST_BY_HOST environment variable accepts a JSON map to restrict instances per hostname. An invalid JSON value triggers a 500 error instead of disabling validation.
What it helps with
- query ThoughtSpot analytics directly from the AI chat
- configure OAuth authorization for ThoughtSpot instances
- restrict instance access by hostname using an allowlist
Example prompts for the agent
- Fetch the latest sales numbers from ThoughtSpot
- Run a ThoughtSpot query to check active accounts this month
