What sfcc-dev-mcp does

The server operates under two distinct setups. Without any credentials, it exposes 18 documentation tools covering the SFCC API, Storefront Reference Architecture, and ISML elements. It runs locally via npx with zero sandbox access.

Full mode opens 40 tools once connected to a sandbox via dw.json or environment variables with Basic Auth or OAuth keys. This setup grants your assistant access to live error logs, scheduled job logs, system object definitions, and script debugger endpoints.

Scaffolded cartridge writes remain strictly confined to active workspace roots. Because fallback to the user home folder is blocked, file generation will not write outside your project.

What it helps with

  • search API references for SFCC classes and SFRA modules
  • inspect live instance error logs and background job records
  • look up ISML element tags and usage rules
  • scaffold new cartridge structures inside project directories

Example prompts for the agent

  • Search the SFCC documentation for methods available on dw.customer.Customer.
  • Check the latest error logs on the instance and show stack traces for checkout failures.
  • Scaffold a new cartridge named int_custom_feeds inside the current workspace.
