SafeGrd — Claude Code MCP server: backups and setup
SafeGrd lets an agent inspect backups and Fire Drills, then request a backup or a drill. Use it to check backup records or ask for a restore test.
claude mcp add --transport http safegrd https://safegrd.dev/mcpWhat SafeGrd does
The MCP server gives an agent access to backup and Fire Drill information. It can also receive requests to create a backup or run a drill. Its tools cannot delete backups.
SafeGrd’s CLI and daemon back up databases and other data sources. Backups are compressed, encrypted on the source host, and sent to S3-compatible storage with Object Lock. A Fire Drill restores the newest backup to a temporary database or directory and checks the result. Claude Code can connect to the hosted server over HTTP, or run the container locally with Docker. The hosted server receives backup records and signed restore-test results; backup data does not pass through it.
What it helps with
- inspect available backup records
- check Fire Drill results
- request a database backup
- ask for a restore test
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me the latest backup records for this project.
- Request a backup of the database.
- Run a Fire Drill for the latest backup and show me the result.
