Rowsend — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Bridges AI coding assistants to the Rowsend desktop app to draft, preview, and test email campaigns from local databases.
claude mcp add rowsend -- npx -y @rowsend/mcpWhat Rowsend does
This package establishes an stdio channel between your MCP client and the Rowsend macOS app. It gives models direct access to project assets, templates, and contact stores without sharing credentials with third-party hosts. Contact records pull directly from Postgres on Supabase or Neon, MySQL, PlanetScale, MongoDB, or Firebase Auth, while outgoing mail routes through SES, Postmark, Mailgun, or SMTP.
Under the hood, the bridge talks to Rowsend over 127.0.0.1 using --mcp-stdio. When Rowsend is closed, the process starts it in the background. Assistants can inspect fields, construct templates, upload visuals, and trigger sample emails to your inbox. They cannot schedule or dispatch real campaigns.
Running this requires macOS alongside Node.js 18 or later. If the app resides outside Applications, point the ROWSEND_APP environment variable straight to its location.
What it helps with
- draft marketing campaigns using local database contacts
- preview newsletter designs and test delivery before launch
- sync contact attributes from Postgres or MongoDB without exposing API tokens
- inspect campaign performance metrics directly from the assistant
Example prompts for the agent
- Check the database connection status in Rowsend and list all available fields
- Create a new email template matching our brand assets and trigger a test send
- Retrieve campaign performance numbers for the latest marketing blast
