What Release Notes Index does

This server connects your development assistant directly to the public registry at releases.sh. Instead of browsing raw GitHub tags or vendor blogs, the assistant queries standardized release feeds with generated summaries and breaking-change classifications.

Read queries work out of the box without tokens or registered accounts. Higher rate limits and custom notification hooks do require a free profile on the platform.

The server runs remotely over HTTP at https://agents.releases.sh/mcp. Local package building is avoided entirely. You only need network access.

What it helps with

  • inspect breaking changes before upgrading dependencies
  • check recent release timelines for a specific vendor
  • troubleshoot sudden library failures after a minor bump
  • scan software ecosystems for mentions of a target protocol

Example prompts for the agent

  • "Check Anthropic recent releases and list breaking changes."
  • "What updates were shipped for MCP libraries recently?"
  • "Review the changelog before we bump this dependency."
