pruna — Claude Code MCP server: image tools and setup
Connect Pruna AI to an assistant for image generation, editing, upscaling and video workflows. Running the server requires a Pruna API key.
claude mcp add pruna -e PRUNA_API_KEY=<PRUNA_API_KEY> -- uvx pruna-mcp-serverWhat pruna does
The server exposes tools for creating images from text, editing between one and five images, virtual garment try-on and upscaling. Video tools can generate clips from text, images or audio, or transform existing footage. Built-in prompt templates cover workflows such as product photography and ad creatives.
Run it with uvx and provide PRUNA_API_KEY. Images are saved locally; video results include a file and a download link. Inline MCP returns are limited to images below 5 MB and videos below 25 MB, so larger media relies on client-side handling. Claude Code can register the server with claude mcp add.
Image and video operations have usage-based prices; listing available models is free. Image generation starts at $0.0001 per image, while other operations have their own rates. Account for that when choosing a workflow, since costs vary by tool.
What it helps with
- generate an image from a text prompt
- edit several images using written instructions
- upscale an image
- make a video from text, an image or audio
- browse Pruna models and their prices
Example prompts for the agent
- Create an image of red sneakers on a plain white background.
- Edit
photo.pngto replace its background with a bright studio setting. - Upscale the image in
cover.png.
