Promise — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup

Promise gives agents a place to look up commitments, pending replies, and saved context. Connect it when follow-up details need to carry across conversations.

What Promise does

The server exposes tools for checking commitments and their evidence, searching stored context, saving notes, and preparing follow-up actions. Agents can also fetch a daily view or details about a person. Data access goes through the Promise platform API.

Protected tools require authorization. Without a bearer token, the server returns an authorization request; after approval, the agent exchanges a one-time code for a scoped token. mark_resolved and draft_follow_up send the user to Promise to review the action. They do not send or change email directly. The MCP server leaves platform rules and data handling to the Promise platform rather than connecting to its databases or queues itself.

What it helps with

  • find commitments that still need attention
  • check the evidence linked to a commitment
  • retrieve context about a person
  • save a note for a later conversation
  • prepare a follow-up action for review in Promise

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show my commitments for today and the evidence attached to them.
  • Find the saved context about this person and keep this note for a later conversation.
  • Prepare a follow-up for this commitment so I can review it in Promise.
