PlanExe — Claude Code MCP server: plans and setup
Turns a natural-language project brief into a rough, editable planning baseline. Use it to map work, decisions, risks, assumptions, and open questions.
claude mcp add --transport http planexe https://mcp.planexe.org/mcpWhat PlanExe does
PlanExe turns a project description into a structured first-pass plan. The report may include the project purpose, assumptions and constraints, alternative scenarios, a work breakdown with dependencies and a Gantt chart, governance and roles, stakeholder approaches, risks, SWOT analysis, and questions that need answers.
Each run produces an interactive report plus readable source artifacts in Markdown, JSON, and CSV. You can edit an intermediate artifact and rebuild the later work that depends on it. The server targets complex, multi-phase initiatives rather than everyday task lists.
Treat the result as a draft for investigation. Budgets, dates, legal claims, engineering assumptions, and risk estimates need review by stakeholders and domain specialists. The project brief and intermediate planning material are sent to Anthropic through the Claude Code CLI, so material that must stay inside systems you control should not be used with it.
What it helps with
- build a rough plan for a complex project
- map project work and its dependencies
- record assumptions, constraints, and unanswered questions
- create a risk register with mitigation ideas
- list documents to create and data to collect
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a rough plan for this multi-phase project and identify its assumptions, constraints, and open questions.
- Break this project into dependent work packages and prepare a Gantt chart.
- Audit the plan for risks, weak premises, and decisions that still need to be made.
