What Petsonality does

Petsonality runs a small ASCII companion in the terminal and gives it a personality based on MBTI. It reacts when code fails, may celebrate passing tests or successful commits, and speaks up after a quiet stretch. The /pet commands let you view the pet, browse the animals, rename it, or mute its reactions.

The MCP server is launched through npx and can be connected to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and the other listed clients. Its installer includes the /pet skill, hooks, and status-line assets. It also updates ~/.claude.json and ~/.claude/settings.json; a source install requires Bun.

The animated pet needs a terminal status line. It will not render in the Claude Code desktop app or web client, although MCP output such as /pet show still works from any client.

What it helps with

  • show a pet in the terminal status line
  • react to coding errors during agent work
  • acknowledge passing tests and successful commits
  • browse and rename the selected animal
  • mute or restore pet reactions

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show my pet with /pet.
  • List all available animals using /pet browse.
  • Mute the pet with /pet off.
