oss-autopilot — Claude Code MCP server: PRs, issues, CI
An MCP server for contributing to other people's open source repos: it watches pull requests, hunts for issues and reads CI failures.
claude mcp add oss-autopilot -e GITHUB_TOKEN=<GITHUB_TOKEN> -- npx -y @oss-autopilot/mcpWhat oss-autopilot does
The server hands your agent 30 tools, 6 resources and 4 prompts. You can check where your PRs stand, search GitHub for issues worth picking up, score a repo on a 1–10 health rubric, pull the comment thread on a pull request and draft a reply. Resources such as oss://prs and oss://pr/{owner}/{repo}/{number} feed context straight to the agent.
Both stdio and Streamable HTTP transports are supported. In HTTP mode the server writes a token to ~/.oss-autopilot/mcp.token on first start with 0600 permissions, and every request has to carry an Authorization: Bearer header. A non-loopback Host gets 403; a missing, non-numeric or oversized Content-Length gets 413. The token survives restarts — delete the file and restart to rotate it.
Node.js 22+ and an authenticated GitHub CLI are required. Skip gh auth login and anything that talks to GitHub stops working. Some tools write to your account: post leaves a comment, claim takes an issue, move shifts a PR between states. Call init with your GitHub username once before anything else — it writes ~/.oss-autopilot/state.json.
What it helps with
- see which pull requests are waiting on you
- find an issue you can actually patch
- size up a repo before writing code
- read a PR thread and draft a reply
- claim an issue with a comment
Example prompts for the agent
- Run
