OpenMyMemo — Claude Code MCP server: setup
OpenMyMemo keeps AI memory in a local folder that you control. Use it when several assistants need to share context and you want to review changes.
claude mcp add --env OPENMYMEMO_HOME=<OPENMYMEMO_HOME> --transport stdio openmymemo -- uvx openmymemoWhat OpenMyMemo does
OpenMyMemo stores AI memory on your computer instead of tying it to one service account. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other MCP apps can use the same folder. A panel shows edits made by assistants and lets you undo them.
The server can connect apps, import memory from ChatGPT, and read files such as CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, GEMINI.md and memory.md. Imported entries can then be sorted into topics. The command-line interface uses openmymemo; its installation requires uv, while uvx openmymemo runs it without a separate install.
Claude Code connects over stdio with the OPENMYMEMO_HOME environment variable. Set the memory-folder path first, or the app has nowhere to keep its shared data.
What it helps with
- keep AI memory in a local folder
- share context across MCP applications
- import memory from ChatGPT and rule files
- review and undo assistant edits
- connect apps to one memory directory
Example prompts for the agent
- Connect OpenMyMemo to this project and save its conventions in memory.
- Import memory from
~/.claude/CLAUDE.mdthrough OpenMyMemo. - Show the memory changes waiting for review and undo the latest edit.
