office-oxide-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: setup guide
Rust-based MCP server for local processing of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PDF files. Fills out forms and creates reports directly inside your coding agent.
claude mcp add office-oxide-mcp -- npx -y @aimino/opendocswork-mcpWhat office-oxide-mcp does
The server runs locally. It processes four main document formats: XLSX, DOCX, PPTX, and PDF. Instead of sending files to external document APIs, it handles parsing on your machine. The engine handles AcroForm inputs, complex XFA layouts, and flat scanned PDFs where values must be positioned by coordinate pairs.
Specific document tasks rely on dedicated skills. The excel.basic tool produces balance sheets, KPI dashboards, and variance spreadsheets. For word processing, word.invoice and word.report assemble billing statements or legal agreements, while ppt.deck outputs slide outlines. The office_export_pdf tool exports finished sheets and documents to PDF.
All parsing and document generation stays on your hard drive. To connect it, you need Node.js to execute @aimino/opendocswork-mcp via npx or the compiled binary installed via Cargo.
What it helps with
- fill out bureaucratic AcroForm and XFA form fields in PDF files
- generate financial balance sheets and KPI dashboards in XLSX
- assemble contracts and commercial invoices in DOCX format
- build structured slide decks in PPTX format
Example prompts for the agent
- Fill out the application fields in
form.pdfusing data fromclient.json - Generate a revenue forecast spreadsheet in XLSX with
excel.basic - Assemble an IT service contract draft in DOCX using
word.report
