Norma by Quality Clouds — Claude Code MCP server

Checks code your agent writes against your stack rules while it is being written, and keeps a record of the findings. Useful when you need a repeatable report instead of a verdict that shifts between runs.

What Norma by Quality Clouds does

Norma plugs into a coding agent as a remote MCP server at https://api.qualityclouds.ai/mcp. Rulesets are tied to a stack and switch on by themselves once the server works out what you are running. A single scan of your repository turns on rules across six areas: security, performance, scalability, manageability, maintainability and architecture. The Supabase set by itself holds 12 rules.

The server exposes five tools. get_rulesets detects the stack and returns the matching sets, get_rules_for_ruleset lists a set's rules with ID, severity and fix guidance, live_check runs one file through the rules, get_open_issues returns the outstanding findings from the last full scan, and register_applied_actions logs what was verified, fixed and prevented. The same file against the same rules yields the same verdict, and file content stays in memory only while the check runs.

One thing to set up first: the repository has to be linked in your Norma account through the GitHub or Bitbucket integration, or live_check will not run. Sign-in uses OAuth, and the browser opens on the first connection. If a check reports the repository is not linked, confirm it shows up in your account and that git remote get-url origin in your local clone points at the same one.

What it helps with

  • check a freshly generated file against team rules
  • pull the rule list for a stack before starting a task
  • work through the open findings from the last full scan
  • log which violations were fixed, with file and line numbers
  • load the security rules for a Supabase project

Example prompts for the agent

  • Detect the stack in this repository and show me which rulesets apply.
  • Run src/api/orders.ts through Norma and fix what it returns.
  • Record which rules passed and what was fixed during this task.

Questions about Norma by Quality Clouds

How do I install Norma by Quality Clouds in Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add --transport http norma https://api.qualityclouds.ai/mcp, then confirm the connection with claude mcp list. The browser opens for OAuth sign-in on first use.

What does Norma by Quality Clouds do?

It hands your agent the rules for the detected stack, checks each file against them, and writes the outcome to an audit trail. One file plus one ruleset always gives the same verdict.

Why does live_check not run?

It only works on a repository linked in your Norma account via GitHub or Bitbucket. Check that the repository appears in your account and that git remote get-url origin in your clone matches it.
