NessGate — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Hand it a domain plus what your client supports, and it returns a connection plan: protocol, endpoint, transport, auth. Or the exact field the service never published.
claude mcp add --transport http nessgate https://nessgate.com/mcpWhat NessGate does
NessGate reads the AI interfaces a domain already publishes and folds them into a single answer. The discover_domain tool hands back a normalized record — type, URL, and a link to where it came from. No scores, no ranking, every field traceable to its source file.
There are five outcomes and none of them is a guess: ready, credentials-required, incomplete, broken, no-compatible-method. That last one means your client speaks nothing the service offers. When a service under-publishes, NessGate names the missing field instead of shrugging.
The server is remote at https://nessgate.com/mcp. No key, no account, no stored domain data; answers sit in an edge cache for up to 10 minutes. Stdio-only clients need the mcp-remote bridge described in the integration docs — without it the connection won't come up.
What it helps with
- find out which AI interfaces a domain publishes
- build a connection plan for a service's MCP endpoint
- spot the field a service forgot to publish
- test your own publication before agents read it
- wire domain resolution into onboarding without per-standard code
Example prompts for the agent
- Check what
supabase.compublishes and tell me how to connect over MCP with oauth2 - Resolve
example.com— which AI interfaces does it expose, and what's missing to connect? - Resolve
example.comand list the normalized records with their source URLs

Questions about NessGate
How do I install NessGate in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http nessgate https://nessgate.com/mcp. No key or account needed.
What does NessGate do?
Given a domain and your client's capabilities, it builds a connection plan: protocol, endpoint, transport, and auth details. If connecting isn't possible yet, it names the missing field.
Does it need an API key?
No. The hosted endpoint is open with open CORS and no auth. Your own credentials stay with you and never pass through NessGate.
