What Meertrack does

Meertrack turns its REST API into 8 read-only tools plus 3 prompt workflows. You ask the agent about competitor releases and get an answer without leaving the editor. Clients include Claude, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Cline, Zed and Gemini CLI.

Two transports are available. The stdio path runs npx -y @meertrack/mcp and reads the key from MEERTRACK_API_KEY. The remote path points at https://mcp.meertrack.com/mcp and accepts either OAuth 2.1 or an Authorization: Bearer mt_live_… header. Keys come from the Meertrack settings and start with mt_live_; there is no test flavour.

Every client sharing one key also shares a 60 requests/minute budget. Run the server in Cursor and a background agent at once and they drain the same bucket, so mint a key per workstation or per agent. In VS Code the config sits under servers, not mcpServers — reuse the Claude Desktop key and the Copilot picker will not find the server. Claude Desktop reads its config file only at launch, so quit the app fully rather than reloading the window.

What it helps with

  • see what competitors shipped this week
  • build a release digest without visiting rival sites by hand
  • ask about competitor updates from inside the IDE
  • wire competitive research into an editor workflow
  • keep rate limits separate across several clients

Example prompts for the agent

  • What did my competitors ship this week?
  • Show recent releases for the companies I track
  • Put together a weekly digest of competitor changes
