What moissanite-tools does

Standard stone charts rely on diamond density (3.52 g/cm³), which creates a 9% disparity when applied to moissanite (3.21 g/cm³). The server resolves this difference through GIA formulas scaled by relative material density, calculating round brilliant dimensions directly instead of copying tables.

The system bundles six tools: carat_to_mm, mm_to_carat, grading_scale, ring_size_convert, necklace_length, and stud_appearance. Beyond weight conversions, it provides references for D–K color and FL–SI clarity grades, alongside ISO 8653 circumference conversions across US, UK, and European standards.

All dimensional math targets standard round brilliant cuts exclusively. Fancy cuts distribute mass differently. That makes this server unsuitable for non-round gems.

What it helps with

  • Calculate moissanite carat weight from diameter using accurate stone density
  • Convert ring measurements between US, UK, and ISO 8653 EU standards
  • Inspect GIA color and clarity grading scale definitions
  • Check earring stud appearance and necklace resting lengths

Example prompts for the agent

  • Convert a 6.5 mm moissanite to carat weight using moissanite-tools
  • What is the US equivalent for a UK M ring size?
  • Explain VVS1 clarity and D color using grading_scale

Questions about moissanite-tools

How to install moissanite-tools in Claude Code?

Run claude mcp add --transport http moissanite-tools https://mcp.fitiny.com/mcp in your terminal.

What does moissanite-tools do?

It calculates density-corrected carat-to-millimeter conversions for stones, looks up ring sizes across regional standards, and explains GIA grading parameters.

Can it calculate oval or princess cut stones?

No, the mathematical model applies only to round brilliant cuts. Different shapes distribute mass unevenly and require separate geometric factors.
