What minutes does

The MCP server lets an agent search local meeting records. minutes can also capture calls, voice memos, and dictation; audio processing happens on your device. Records are Markdown files with YAML metadata in ~/meetings/, readable in Obsidian or searchable with grep.

Connect it to Claude Code with the install command below. The server runs through npx -y minutes-mcp and searches the meeting files you allow the agent to access. If you send context to a cloud assistant or summarizer, that text goes to the provider.

Transcription stays on your device. Sharing text with a cloud AI is a separate step, which matters when a conversation contains sensitive details.

What it helps with

  • retrieve a decision from an earlier meeting
  • search transcripts for project context
  • save meeting records as Markdown with metadata
  • transcribe a voice memo or dictation

Example prompts for the agent

  • Search my meeting notes for what we decided about monthly billing.
  • Record this meeting, then find the decisions in its transcript.
  • Look through my meeting records for context on this project.
