mcp-sap-docs — Claude Code MCP server: search SAP docs
Gives your assistant search and fetch over SAP documentation: UI5, CAP, ABAP, BTP. Handy when you need the official docs without leaving the editor.
claude mcp add mcp-sap-docs -- npx -y mcp-sap-docsWhat mcp-sap-docs does
The server exposes a unified search over a local SAP docs index as MCP tools. Search runs on BM25, with optional semantic ranking on top. The index is built from git clones: ABAP Keyword Documentation, cheat sheets, RAP samples, style guides, BTP, AI Core, UI5, CAP, Cloud SDK, the Terraform provider for BTP, architecture references, wdi5.
Two variants share one codebase and differ by the MCP_VARIANT setting. The sap-docs profile covers a broad doc set and adds Discovery Center tools; abap focuses on ABAP keywords, RAP, cheat sheets, style guides and abap_lint. Shared tools include search, fetch, abap_feature_matrix, sap_community_search, sap_search_objects and sap_get_object_details.
The public hosted endpoint needs no API key or login and is read-only. Running it locally means you need Node.js and npx — the install command fails without them.
What it helps with
- look up current ABAP syntax for a keyword
- check whether an ABAP feature exists in a given release
- find SAP Community posts about a specific error
- check an object's release state and clean core level
- see what changed in SAPUI5 between versions
Example prompts for the agent
- Find in the SAP docs how to declare a number range in RAP
- Check the feature matrix whether this construct exists in 7.40
- Search SAP Community for posts about this OData error
