mcp-ip2location-io — Claude Code MCP server: setup
This MCP server looks up location and network details for IPv4 and IPv6 through IP2Location.io. Use it for log enrichment, traffic checks, or IP investigations.
claude mcp add mcp-ip2location-io -e IP2LOCATION_API_KEY=<IP2LOCATION_API_KEY> -- uvx mcp-ip2location-ioWhat mcp-ip2location-io does
mcp-ip2location-io sends an IP address to IP2Location.io and exposes location data, ASN, ISP, domain, network type, and proxy details. The response depends on the API plan. It accepts both IPv4 and IPv6, and can send several addresses through the Bulk API when that option is available.
The server connects to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, and other MCP clients. Its requests are asynchronous and use httpx. A local setup needs Python 3.13 or newer, uv, and the IP2LOCATION_API_KEY environment variable.
Bulk lookups require an eligible paid plan, so a free or unsupported plan limits that part of the workflow.
What it helps with
- locate an IPv4 or IPv6 address
- identify an IP's ASN and ISP
- inspect an address for proxy signals
- look up several IPs through the Bulk API
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the location of
8.8.8.8. - Show the ASN, ISP, and network type for
8.8.8.8. - Check these addresses together:
8.8.8.8,8.8.6.6, and9.9.9.9.
