Manticore Search — Claude Code MCP server: features & install
Connects Manticore Search to your AI assistant. Run SQL queries, inspect table schemas, and consult engine documentation directly in conversations.
claude mcp add mcp-manticore -- uvx mcp-manticoreWhat Manticore Search does
This integration provides tools like run_query, list_tables, and describe_table to inspect database structure and execute queries. It also includes get_documentation alongside an initial prompt that guides language models on Manticore features, such as KNN vector search and full-text syntax.
Safety guards are active out of the box. Destructive actions and record updates fail unless you explicitly set MANTICORE_ALLOW_WRITE_ACCESS=true and MANTICORE_ALLOW_DROP=true. By default, the server expects the Manticore HTTP API running on port 9308 at localhost. You will need uvx available in your environment to launch it.
What it helps with
- query Manticore Search tables using SQL directly from the assistant
- inspect index definitions and table schemas during development
- retrieve syntax guidelines and KNN vector search references from documentation
- block destructive operations by enforcing default read-only restrictions
Example prompts for the agent
