macuse — Mac MCP server: Calendar, Mail, Notes and any app
An on-device MCP server that lets your agent read and write Calendar, Mail, Notes, Reminders and Messages, and drive any Mac app.
Open on GitHubWhat macuse does
Everything macuse does happens on your Mac. No cloud round-trip, no content telemetry. Through MCP tools the agent works with Calendar, Mail, Notes, Reminders, Messages, Stickies, Contacts, Maps and Shortcuts — booking events, searching mail, creating tasks with due dates. Computer Use covers the rest: clicking elements, typing, walking menus in apps that have no dedicated integration. It runs in the background, so your cursor and active window stay where they are.
Three install paths, one engine. Claude and Codex get a plugin that ships the server plus three skills: macuse-setup for install, client connection, macOS permissions and troubleshooting; macuse-apps for parameter shapes and call ordering across the built-in apps; macuse-computer-use for the inspect/act/verify loop and error recovery. Claude Desktop takes the .mcpb bundle. Cursor, Zed, VS Code, Windsurf and similar clients point at the binary themselves — /Applications/Macuse.app/Contents/MacOS/macuse with the mcp argument. Underneath, all of them call macuse mcp, the CLI inside the app, where protocol handling, OAuth, permissions and reconnection live.
Before any of that, download Macuse from macuse.app/download, drag Macuse.app into /Applications and launch it once. Permissions are granted per app and per client, and the first tool call asks you to approve OAuth in the Macuse window. If the app sits outside /Applications, set MACUSE_BINARY to its path.

- draft a reply to an email in Mail
- add a reminder with a due date and priority
- find notes that mention a project
- drive an app that has no integration
Example prompts for the agent
- Schedule a meeting for next Tuesday at 3pm and check my free time

Questions about macuse
How do I install macuse in Claude Code?
Download the app from macuse.app/download, drag Macuse.app to /Applications and launch it once. Then add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add macuse-app/macuse-mcp and install the plugin with /plugin install macuse@macuse-plugins. Approve the OAuth prompt in the Macuse window on the first tool call.
What does macuse do?
It exposes macOS apps to your agent over MCP — Calendar, Mail, Notes, Reminders, Messages, Stickies, Contacts, Maps and Shortcuts. Computer Use handles apps without a dedicated integration by working their interface directly.
Does my data leave the Mac?
No. Processing stays local. Each app and each client gets its own permission grant, and sensitive apps such as password managers and banking re-confirm on every use.
