LLMScribe — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
LLMScribe gives an agent a fixed repository map, file search and local reads. Use it when an agent needs focused project context.
claude mcp add llmscribe -- uvx llmscribeWhat LLMScribe does
LLMScribe exposes repository structure and file content through predictable operations. project_map returns the tree without opening every file, search checks paths, names and lines, and read retrieves a selected file. Search results include the path, line number and match type.
The server can read several files, resolve local, standard-library, external and unresolved imports, and show reverse dependencies. It also exposes Git status and unified diffs. Binary and oversized files are skipped, while truncated output is marked. Processing stays on the machine, with no API key, account or network access. If uvx is unavailable in the environment, the Claude Code launch command will fail.
What it helps with
- map an unfamiliar repository
- find a symbol or text across project files
- read related files without opening the whole tree
- trace direct and reverse dependencies
- inspect Git changes before editing
Example prompts for the agent
- Use
project_mapto outline this repository before reading source files. - Search for every occurrence of
authenticationwithsearch, including paths and line numbers. - Use
project_dependenciesto show what this file imports and what depends on it.
